HEAD coach Dan Protherough believes the return of an injured trio will have a huge impact on Bromsgrove RFC this season.

The Boars will be looking to bounce back after last season's relegation to National League Three Midlands.

Protherough, who replaced Ross Baxter during the summer at the helm, will have the key threesome of Chris McGregor, Wayne Hooper and Phil Horton to call upon after they recovered from long term injury.

Bromsgrove also have a host of young players drafted into the club as the rebuilding process continues at Finstall Park.

"It's great to have Wayne, Chris and Phil available again, it's like signing three new players.

"We've also a host of exciting young players in from local clubs. Bromsgrove has always given youth a chance and also is aware of the traditions of rugby in the area.

"We're going to try and play exciting rugby, with quick ball to hand, it's the sort of style that gets supporters and players alike excited.

"We'll be trying to build on the good things at the club over the last five or six seasons and try to make sure we avoid the mistakes."

Protherough comes to the club with an excellent track record at Droitwich and North Midlands RFU.

He will be aiming to turn around the team's fortunes after their relegation form National Two North.

With automatic promotion for the table-toppers and a play-off spot for the second-placed team, Protherough has also not ruled out a tilt at promotion.

Bromsgrove start the season at South Leicester on Saturday (3pm start).

He said: "We're targetting a top four finish but we're not ruling out promotion, it's something we'll be aiming for.

"We've got a tough game at South Leicester, who will be very physical."
