Revival iStream 2, £200, from robertsradio.co.uk

This year, Roberts Radio celebrate their 60th anniversary of being a Royal Warrant Holder, so it seems rather fitting to bring attention to their iSTREAM2 which, design-wise, harks back to the 1950s, when the Queen came to the throne. While the style of the radio may be nostalgic, its tech capabilities are anything but. At the touch of a button, you can tune into FM/DAB, DAB+ and WiFi internet radio - the latter giving you access to stations throughout the world. In addition, there's an Aux in socket for MP3 playback, a USB port and the iStream will connect to your Spotify Premium account. To up the tech stakes even further, download the ConnectR app - then you can use your phone as a remote control for the radio.

Sony NWZA-15 A Series High Res Walkman 16 GB - Silver, £149.99, from amazon.co.uk

By Appointment to HRH The Prince of Wales, perhaps Sony's Walkman NWZ-A15 would interest Prince Charles? Forget the classic old cassette player, the modern-day Walkman focuses on providing high-resolution audio. The small device restores quality to compressed files and brings clarity to your music via its S-Master HX digital amplification. It's simple enough to use, just connect it to your computer and drag and drop your music onto the device - you can get 16gb worth (approximately 1200 songs) on there, but if that's not enough, the gadget comes with a microSD card reader. A lovely little pocket-sized gadget.

John Lewis Spectrum Cube Bluetooth Portable NFC Speaker, £59.95, from johnlewis.com

They supply haberdashery and household goods to the Queen's Privy Purse but John Lewis' tech products are rather majestic too. The compact John Lewis Spectrum Cube Speaker is pretty enough to suit most interiors, but while it looks simple and is very easy to use, it's crammed with technology. Either connect your phone/tablet to it via Bluetooth or alternatively just tap the left hand side of the cube and it will connect to any device within a 10-metre range. Use the top of the cube to both control your music (skip, pause change the volume) and activate the speaker-phone. A nice, compact speaker which has a great sound to boot. Colour wise, there are six options and azure is particularly lovely.
