IT'S THE Christmas party season again and if you're dreaming of gorgeous, voluminous locks you can recreate at home, then a Kidderminster salon is giving you inspiration to make sure you are the bell of the ball and the star of the dance floor.

Andrea Beers Hair Salon has put together the most wanted looks for this Christmas and the easy steps to recreate them at home.

Hollywood Glamour Waves

This is the ultimate sophisticated red carpet look sure to turn heads at any party and this look is a real statement.

Firstly start off with day old hair. It is easier to work with and will help keep the curls in place. The key is to use a root lifter and a volumising mousse from roots to ends before drying. These products will help give you the fullness you need to achieve this look and hold your hair in place all night long.

Once you've worked in the root lifter and mousse, part your hair on one side. You can use curling irons or hot rollers to achieve this look. If you’re using hot rollers, simply set them in your hair and let them cool. If you’re using a curling iron, separate your hair into square sections and start curling medium sized sections all going the same direction with a one-inch barreled curling iron.

Once you've curled your whole head, spray lightly with hairspray to keep the waves in place. The next step is the same no matter which method of curl you choose. Take a brush and fully comb through the curls. At first this will feel weird — after all, you're ruining all your hard work — but trust that it will work. Gather your hair into a low ponytail and thoroughly brush through until your hair almost looks like on giant curl. If you find the curls separating at the bottom, back brush underneath the hair and it should keep them in place. This is the perfect place to stop if you're happy with the waves, but for extra hold, you can also use flat clips to define the curls more before you do a final spray with a firmer hold hairspray.

The way you style it now is up to you. If you want to be traditional, sweep one side behind your ear and let the curls fall along your opposite shoulder. For a more modern twist, try doing a small French braid on the side where your part lies and let it follow your hairline to the back. Then pin it underneath the curls.

Bouncy Blowout

Prepping your hair is key to this look, says Andrea. She suggests starting with a straightening balm for curly hair or a volumising spray for straight hair. Blow hair dry with a medium-size, round, boar-bristle brush - this will create a full, finished look that's straight with a good bend on the ends.

Messy, Chic Side Braid

Build up texture by prepping hair with a salt spray and add body by using a diffusing hairdryer. Use your fingers to rake it to one side and then create a ponytail by fastening both the top and the bottom with elastic bands. Pull out the top section and create a fishtail braid. Add a festive clip to the base of the ponytail. The finished look should look effortless, casual, and not too done!

Hairline Braid

Mist a light hold volumising hair spray on dry hair, part on the side, and use a large-barrel curling iron to create broken up waves. Start a French braid at the part and stop just above the opposite ear, secure it with an elastic, then pin into place and tuck it under the rest of your hair.

Topknot

Topknots look more current with a little texture. Build it up with a salt spray then flip your head over and wrap hair with a thick ponytail holder around the base. Tease and back-comb the ponytail in sections, then roll and wrap each section, pinning it into the base to form the topknot.
