GANDY Shirley On behalf of all my family I would like to write a few words to convey my sincere thanks to the many people who showed up to pay their respects at my Aunty Shirley's funeral on March 2nd at St. Nicholas Church. We couldn't believe the sight which greeted us when we walked though the church door. There were people packed in every corner, even the altar had to be used for overspill seating. The service was beautiful thanks to Rev. Keith Withington, my cousin Kevan Gandy and nephew Jack Gandy for reading the eulogy. A short committal followed at the crematorium and then onto St. Andrew's Hotel for a celebration of Shirley's life. We managed to raise £1,000 for St. Richard's Hospice in her name which I think is wonderful. I also want to thank Joy Cadwallader from the hospice, Sue Dawson and all our other district nurses and carers who allowed us to care for Shirley at home which was her wish. You were all angels and cared for her and us with such dignity. I would also like to thank the staff at St. Peter's school for coming out to show their respects as the funeral cortege stopped outside her place of work for almost 40 years, it was extremely touching. Many thanks also for the warmth and careful attention to detail with organising the funeral to Rachel at Crumps. Darryl Bradford
