For the first time, autumn colour fly-drive packages to West Virginia have been launched by American specialist, America As You Like It. Featuring seven-day itineraries, with direct flights to Washington DC with British Airways, this new destination is an attractive alternative to New England. Prices start from £611 per person (sharing) and include flights, seven-day car hire and accommodation in unique bed & breakfasts establishments.
To catch the best of the colour, another itinerary is to be released for October.
West Virginia is the third most forested state in the nation - nearly 80 percent is tree-covered with 36 state parks and seven state forests forming more than 200,000 acres of natural wonder and scenic beauty to provide tourists with a brilliant show of fall colour across the Mountain State. West Virginia's varied topography and elevation, ranging from a few hundred feet above sea level to nearly a mile high, stretches the leaf-peeping season from late-September into the early days of November.
