Since I can remember, I have had a love of all things automotive, my first car (at 3) being a Rolls Royce. Although I had to pedal it myself, it had fully functioning (plastic button operated)windscreen washers. I then moved onto a Ferrari for my Barbie.

When I passed my test, I hit the roads in a Vauxhall Corsa. Which was awesome, I had total freedom on the roads from that moment. Since then, I’ve driven everything from the Bugatti Veyron to the Peugeot 307 to the McLaren Stirling Moss to the Mitsubishi L200.

Cars are in my blood I suppose, my family all work in the motor trade and so I have a long established heritage in the automotive world. My grandfather was a barrow boy until he moved into buying and selling cars and as a family, we’ve done that for the last 50 years mainly in the West Midlands.

So at home, the conversation often turns to cars and indeed no week was ever the same on the drive. There was always oil to change and a petrol can on the back seat. As a teenager my friends smelt of perfume and I smelt of petrol.

Rev forward a few years and I have worked on Top Gear with the brilliant brainpowers behind the show, had a hellraising experience on the track with the Stig and worked on Top Gear Live, the stunt show with the presenters.

From now, I’ll be road testing cars and letting you know if they should be in a ditch or on your driveway. So belt up and sit back, I’m here to take things full throttle.
