Grass roots
A SCHEME aimed at helping small communities become involved in politics at grass roots level is to be extended following a trial.
Neighbourhood partnership schemes have been running for 12 months in the Alvechurch and Waseley wards in Bromsgrove.
They are represented on the district council by council leader Councillor Roger Hollingworth and Cllr Peter McDonald, the leader of the Labour group.
Cllr Hollingworth told a meeting of the full council last Wednesday that the scheme will be extended to other as yet undefined areas of the district.
The partnership includes representatives from a wide section of the community. Their ideas and suggestions can be fed into the community strategy and may ultimately influence or become policy not only for the council, but for other public bodies such as police, health and the fire service.
