Busy drumming up more support
EVER fancied playing an instrument in a successful and popular local band? Well here's your chance.
Bromsgrove-based samba band Someone at the Door is organising a free one-off workshop for aspiring new members.
The workshop will take place on Sunday, April 13, from 2-5pm at the DDS&S Club in Stourbridge Road, Bromsgrove. During the workshop participants will get the chance to learn to play one of a selection of drums and rehearse a groove' from the band's repertoire.
It will be a great opportunity to get a taste of samba drumming and talk to band members about joining a samba band.

Laura Brodrick, the band's chairman, said: "To get the most out of the afternoon all you need are a sense of rhythm and a sense of fun. We have always been a community band and we open our doors to anyone, regardless of their musical background or age. Our youngest member is 11, our eldest we wouldn't like to say and over the years the band has counted a number of families amongst its members."
Although instruments are provided for the workshop, participants are welcome to take along their own percussion instruments.
There are no age restrictions, but under-16s have to be accompanied by an adult.
Someone at the Door recently celebrated its tenth anniversary. During those ten years the band has played at local village fairs, as well as at festivals as far away as St Ives and in 2007 the group made it on to the main stage of Birmingham's Arts Fest.
For more information, or to book a place on the workshop, contact 07930 863 708 or email someoneatthedoor@hotmail.co.uk
The next opportunity to see Someone at the Door perform is on Saturday, April 26, at the Bromsgrove Festival.
