Prolific Jar Family tell how songs flow freely
4:00pm Thursday 26th July 2012 in Base Sessions
The Jar Family
SONGWRITING is no problem for this week's Base Sessions band who penned enough songs for three albums in eight months.
Quality control is also not an issue for The Jar Family who are all established singer/songwriters with a line-up including former Squeeze bassist Keith Wilkinson.
Keith called at Base Studios in Stourbridge for a chat about the band's two years together which led to their debut release, The Jar Family Album, in May.
The album was mixed by John Cornfield (Muse, Supergrass, Razorlight, Oasis and Athlete) and builds on the success of their first single, Poolie Strut.
The band hails from north eastern town of Hartlepool and Poolie Strut became an anthem for Hartlepool United FC supporters after being played before home games.
The song is described by Jar Family man Al Devon as “an urban romance about a raggy lad from the council estates of Hartlepool who somehow charms a well-to-do girl without evening trying – she just loves his Poolie Strut.”
The Base Sessions is recorded and produced by Base Studios in Stourbridge.
