***Theatre Review – Billy Liar, Festival Theatre, Malvern, until Saturday, May 16.

IF you have ever daydreamed then Billy Liar is a must watch play, especially as I do feel there is a wee bit of Billy in many of us.

Memories of the film, starring Tom Courtenay, flooded back from years gone by as this is a nostalgic glimpse of some 50 years ago.

Billy (Nathan Hannan/shared role) is in a brilliant make-believe land and gave a wonderful performance, along with Helen Fraser (his mum Alice) and Dicken Ashworth (his dad).

Helen had played Barbara, Billy’s fiancee, in the original film.

Sadly only a sparse first night audience was there, but those who were absent missed a treat.
