THEATRE lovers in Droitwich Spa and Bromsgrove are in for a treat on successive weekends this month when a popular production comes to the spa’s Norbury Theatre and then the Artrix in Bromsgrove.

Following the resounding success of last year’s production of ‘Charley’s Aunt’, the New Century Theatre Company shortly embarks on their spring 2009 tour of the popular classic comedy by Noel Coward and aim to spellbind audiences with ‘Blithe Spirit’ .

It will be performed in Droitwich at the Friar Street venue on Saturday, March 21, from 7.30pm, and the following week it moves up the A38 to the Artrix at 8pm.

This sparkling farce is sure to be a popular attraction, especially as the company has established a loyal following among local theatre patrons.

The central character, Charles Condomine, is a successful, although cynical, novelist; a widower seemingly happily married to his second wife, Ruth.

His latest brainwave is to write a story about a homicidal clairvoyant.

So what could be more natural than to invite some friends to observe an after-dinner séance.

New Century founders, producer Jenny Rigby and director Bill Bowen, will be returning to take part in the production, along with some of the West Midlands’ newest and brightest talents.

Jennifer lives in Studley and Charles will be played by Rob Leetham, from Worcester, who also played a lead role in last year’s production. Jenny plays his deceased first wife. Indeed, the company was started in the year 2000 to give local actors the opportunity of professional work in our region.

Tickets cost £9 adults, while concessions are £7 for the Norbury and £8 for the Artrix.
