THE Wales Theatre Company presents the world premiere of a new musical version of the blockbuster novel The Thorn Birds in Birmingham this month.
Colleen McCullough’s book has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide and was originally adapted for screen in the iconic TV mini series of the 80s starring Richard Chamberlain.
Now, The Thorn Birds has been turned into a musical by Colleen McCullough herself, with music by Gloria Bruni, and will be performed at Birmingham’s Alexandra Theatre. Set in the rugged Australian outback, three extraordinary generations of the Cleary family live through joy and sadness, bitter defeat and magnificent triumph, torn apart by dark passions and a scandalous family legacy of forbidden love.
