A CLASSIC comedy of manners in which two young men create an imaginary friend named Earnest is heading to Birmingham.

In order to impress two beautiful young ladies they both adopt an alter ego and due to the name of Earnest installing absolute confidence in their prospective partners, both women fall deeply in love.

However, the lie is soon hilariously unfurled through the actions of the legendary Lady Bracknell, an ingenious twist of fate and several unforeseen circumstances in Oscar Wilde’s classic comedy, which is regarded by many critics and scholars as being the wittiest play in the English language.

The show will be performed by Tread the Boards Theatre Company, which is made up of professional actors, technicians and backstage crew from around the West Midlands.

Many of the team are local drama school graduates with experiences ranging from theatre and musical tours of Europe to taking films to Cannes.

The production will be performed at the Custard Factory on August 13 and 14 at 8pm and August 15 at 1.45pm.

Tickets cost £8 for adults and £6.50 for concessions.
