MAXINE Jones, an English comedian who has lived in Dublin for 25 years, is bringing her show Invisible Woman to Redditch's Palace Theatre.

Older women are often see-through.

Maxine shakes off her invisibility cloak and steps into the spotlight with a stand-up routine on routine, superpowers and shyness.

The 58-year-old female comic has featured on BBC Radio 4 Woman’s Hour and RTE Arena.

Speaking about her being a comedian she said: "My sons, in their 20s, are mortified that I do comedy. But I’ve long rebelled against them.

"My first Edinburgh show in 2012 was called Embarrassing Mother. I would embarrass them as soon as I opened my mouth. Mainly because I’m English and they’re all born in Dublin.

"My current show is called Invisible Woman. As you get older, as a woman, you definitely become more invisible.

"When I was flyering the show in Edinburgh, I would focus on older women asking 'do you want to see a show about how older women turn invisible?' One old lady took me literally. 'Really' she said, 'how'?

"I really believe comedy should reach out to everyone – as performers and audience. Laughter is such a vital outlet."

Invisible Woman sold out four nights at the Mill Theatre in Dublin, and is now headed for the UK.

The show at the Palace is on February 28.
