SAY it softly, better still, say it quickly… but it has been 50 years since one of the most successful Folk/Rock duos of all time recorded their first number one hit single - The Sound of Silence.

Simon and Garfunkel songs are still popular all these years later and regularly feature on radio, as well as television, and both are still producing material to entertain a new generation of admirers.

They’re also the subjects of another of the outstanding tribute shows which have regularly featured in venues across the country in recent decades recreating the solo stars and groups of yesteryear - shows such as Jackson Live, The Bootleg Beatles, Abba Mania, QueenB, Karen Carpenter and many more.

Perpetuating the S and G legend is Malvern man Dean Elliott. He runs Maple Tree Entertainment, which is based in the town, and stars in The Simon and Garfunkel Story in which he features as Paul Simon.

Following it’s West End success at the Leicester Square Theatre back in February The Simon and Garfunkel Story is currently the biggest and the most successful touring theatre show as it celebrates the lives and career of that well known American duo and it come to two Worcestershire venues next month - including Malvern.

The show will be at Bromsgrove’s Artrix on Thursday, July 2 and the following night at Malvern’s Festival Theatre.

Seasoned West End performer Dean Elliott, who was the award winning leading man as Buddy Holly in Buddy - The Musical, will be on stage with full cast of talented actor-musicians as The Simon and Garfunkel Story takes audiences back through the 'Groovy'  times of the 1960s from their first link-up in Queens, New York.

It tells the story of both Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel from their humble beginnings as Rock ’n’ Roll duo - Tom and Jerry, right through their massive success, dramatic break-up and finishing with a stunning recreation of the 1981 Central Park reformation concert.

Using a huge projection screen, the show features 1960’s photos and film footage whilst a full live band perform all their hits including 'Mrs Robinson', 'Cecilia', 'Bridge Over Troubled Water', 'Homeward Bound', 'Sound of Silence' and many more!

With every performance creating a standing ovation, this is an evening fans of S and G will not want to miss.

Later this year the show will be touring in Europe with visits to Belgium and Holland, as well as Portugal, while in November it heads further afield to Johannesburg in South Africa for a three week date at the Emperor’s Palace.
