NOT to be outdone by the vinyl revival, the humble cassette tape is set to emulate the resurgence in retro music media.

As part of Cassette Store Day, on Saturday, October 17, Redditch’s only physical record shop Vintage Trax will be celebrating from 10.30am until 5.30pm at its Headless Cross home on Birchfield Road.

The shop, which specialises in quality, preloved records, music tapes and books, CDs, and Hi-Fi systems, has delved into the archives to replenish its cassette tape offer for existing and new customers alike.

“Although vinyl records are our most popular selling music media, we are selling more and more cassette tapes each year,” says owner, Ros Sidaway.

“At festivals, tapes are popular amongst VW Camper Van owners who still have radio cassette players in their vehicles.

“Often, the cassette tape version of an album would include bonus tracks, due to having longer playing time than vinyl records, which makes cassettes very collectable.”

As well as tapes, Vintage Trax will also have a range of preloved cassette tape players for sale including models from manufacturers, Denon and Technics.
