IF your looking for somewhere special to go with family, or a nice meal out, or even a relaxed bite to eat and a quick drink, then look no further than Edwards Bar & Restaurant.

The restaurant is a stone's throw from the town centre, yet providing a rural setting.

Based in the family owned and managed Bromsgrove Golf Centre, it is fast growing a reputation for top class dining.

And it's a reputation well deserved, with a mouthwatering array of classic dishes.

Our large party called after a busy morning so we were all looking forward to enjoying a nice sit down and some good food.

We had the Sunday lunch menu featuring roast topside of beef with Yorkshire pudding and red wine gravy, roast leg of pork with bramley apple stuffing and fillet of Hake Mornay - all served with roast and creamed potatoes and seasonal vegetables.

The young ones in our group had chicken goujons or fish fingers, both served with chips and beans.

I'm a sucker for beef with all the trimmings, so needed little excuse to go for this.

I was rewarded with succulent, moist beef, a deep-rich pan gravy and, of course, the full monty of extras. Perfection.

The pork both looked and tasted stunning. The crackling being a particular highlight.

The hake was perfectly cooked - light, fluffy with a sublime smokiness running through it, paired with a fresh, light mayo with that hint of sweet, fresh peas to cut through the luxurious richness of its partner.

It was almost enough to make me wish I'd opted for the same. Almost.

Despite being a large party all the food was served quickly and all piping hot with beautiful presentation.

Most of us managed to squeeze in a dessert which included Mojito cheese cake, strawberry shortcake gateau, homemade trifle, a selection of cheese and crackers, and ice cream with chocolate sauce.

I went for Mojito cheese cake.

I never thought I'd finish it, then took one taste before wolfing down every last morsel without a hint of guilt or regret.

Nothing was too much trouble for the more than accommodating staff and we all went away saying we would definitely recommend Edwards Bar & Restaurant to friends and family.

Well catered for young ones, the restaurant, located within the modern clubhouse, is well suited to a variety of special occasions and even conference needs.

It really has something for everyone.
