MUSIC fans in and around Redditch and Alcester are being invited to the first ever GlastonBeoley festival.

The festival is the brainchild of Debbie Joynes and Dave Osgood, better known as local music duo Imaner, and will raise cash for two charities - deafblind UK, and the Mental Health Association.

Due to take place on June 9 in the parish field at Beoley, adjacent to the village hall, the festival will feature a number of talented musicians and groups.

Coupled with a a licensed bar and numerous catering outlets for hungry festival-goers, it promises to be a day filled with music, fun and food.

A musical gazebo will run throughout the day for youngsters to try their hand at various instruments, and local businesses have pledged their support by helping to provide staging, lighting and PA systems.

The festival itself will run until 10pm on the field and in addition, the Beoley Village Inn will be hosting an acoustic stage throughout the day.

Festival goers will be given a wristband in exchange for tickets, so they can come and go from the field as they please throughout the day.

Debbie said: "We organise open mic nights throughout the Redditch area, and over time have met a wealth of talented people.

"We thought it was the perfect opportunity to bring all those musicians together, to raise money for charity. Everyone has been so generous in donating their time - in fact we currently have a waiting list of groups and artists who want to take part."

She added: "We've been totally overwhelmed by the response."

GlastonBeoley will be officially launched on Saturday, February 17 at the Beoley Village Inn, where organisers plan to showcase some of the acts set to perform.
