AFTER an excellent event in June, the free, summer bandstand programme continues into July with a special song and dance event this weekend.

Residents have already taken a trip back in time for June’s vintage day with the bandstand taking centre stage for a number of musical acts, vintage stalls and themed activities for residents and visitors to enjoy.

Now, they can enjoy performances from local choirs and dancers as well as stalls and activities.

The event, on July 14, will see performances by Primrose Choir, Redditch Choral Society, Nancy Butterfly Dancers, Redditch Gospel Choir, Artrix Songstars show choir, Redditch Dance School, Music in Motion, and Arrow Vale Singers Community Choir.

The event will be at the Bandstand on Church Green from noon until 4pm.

Councillor Roger Bennett, Redditch Borough Council’s portfolio holder for leisure and cultural services, said: “The first bandstand event of the year was great and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who attended.

"There is an excellent line-up of performers this month who have worked very hard in preparation and are guaranteed to entertain. I am pleased we will be showcasing local talent – because let’s face it, there’s a lot”
