Still top after great revival

Hockey.

Bromsgrove Ladies 1st XI 3, Harborne 2nd XI 2.

BROMSGROVE remain top of the Worcestershire League following a pulsating come from behind victory against the only team to have beaten them this season.

Harborne were fastest out of the blocks and took an early lead from a perfectly executed penalty corner and went further ahead following another penalty corner.

Town were on the ropes having conceded two goals for the first time since September 2007. and only some fierce defending from Kirsty Gormley and Justine Postones kept the score to two at the half.

At half time coach Alan Gormley reminded the team of their own excellent abilities and sent them out in a positive frame of mind. They responded magnificently and a goal from Chrissy Ashworth gave them encouragement. A penalty corner saw Tricky Burton rifle home for the equaliser before Ashworth thundered in the winner with time running out.

Coach Gormley said "To come back from two goals down shows what a tremendously strong team spirit the side has and self belief the girls have. They never seem to get phased by adverse circumstances. They should be really proud of their efforts today. We now have three games left and victory in these will guarantee us the title."
