| Weekly surgery | | 11:03am Wednesday 19th March 2008 | | BROMSGROVE community support officer Richard Spillane wants to give the people of Charford the opportunity to pop in to see him in private. Richard is starting a weekly surgery on Thursday, March 20, at the Multi Agency Resource Centre (MARC), in Humphrey Avenue, Charford. It will run from 1-3pm. Richard hopes that neighbourhood wardens and representatives of Bromsgrove District Housing Trust will also be on hand. CSO Spillane said: "The surgeries are an opportunity for people to drop in without an appointment and have a chat about any local crime and disorder concerns which affect their quality of life, or even, for example, find out more about the role of a CSO. The surgeries are in addition to, not instead of, PACT (Partners and Communities Together) meetings. If it is a problem with noisy neighbours for example, people may prefer to raise it in the privacy of a surgery rather than at a public PACT meeting. If, on the other hand, it is something which affects the wider community, like anti-social behaviour, it may be more appropriate to bring it up at a PACT meeting." Richard added: "We are also aware that the timings of PACT meetings do not always suit everyone, for example parents with young children or shift workers, and surgeries therefore offer an alternative to those who cannot easily get out in the evenings." |

The drop-in after-school service, open to children aged eight and upwards, runs throughout the school week at the MARC premises in Humphrey Avenue, Charford. |
