NURSES, midwives and staff at the Alexandra Hospital have been thanked for their hard work.

They have been working with nursing students on the University of Worcester’s first degree nursing programme.

As part of the programme the students spend almost half their time in clinical practice at hospital.

Helen Blanchard, from Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust , which runs the Alex, said: “The benefit of working alongside experienced qualified nursing staff is essential in helping the next generation of nurses to acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes to succeed.”

Kayleigh Madden, a newly qualified staff nurse at the Alex, said: “Everyone on the ward has been really supportive.

“I’ve been made to feel very welcome here throughout my training.

“The hard work has really just begun and although it has been a bit of a shock to the system all the staff have been very helpful. It’s definitely a rewarding career.”
