A FUND-RAISING night in Rubery has raised an impressive amount for two soldiers charities.

On Friday, November 2, Rubery Social Club, in New Road, held a charity evening raising money for Help for Heroes and the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA).

Rubery Tattoo Committee organised the evening and a number of acts performed including Shawthing, Chloe Barry, Alesa Summer, The Lady & The Sax and West End star David Lawrence.

A cheque for £1,000 was given to the SSAFA, while £500 was sent to Help for Heroes.

This was on top of £654, which was raised on the evening.

Tony Maslen, from the Rubery Tattoo Committee, said he wanted to thank all the artists, helpers, and those who generously supported the evening and raised the impressive amount.
