MEN in Bromsgrove are being asked to strap on a pair of heels and show their support for a council campaign against domestic abuse.

Bromsgrove District Council is backing a series of local events organised by Redditch Council to mark 16 Days of Action, an international campaign to raise awareness of violence against women.

And one of the events involves local men walking a mile walk around Redditch town centre in women’s shoes.

Bev Houghton, from Bromsgrove District Council, said: “The council is committed to the 16 Days of Action campaign.

“We have a number of male staff signed up to take part in the walk but we also need local men to register to join in and publicly show their support against domestic abuse.

“Refreshments, plasters and encouragement will be available on the day as well as a goody bag for each participant.”

The walk takes place on Friday, November 30 at 2pm.

Participants can wear any type of women’s shoes (it doesn’t have to be high heels) or shoes can be supplied if required.

To register, email communitysafety@redditchbc.gov.uk with your name, the number of men in your group and, if you can’t supply your own, what size shoes you need.
