WITH  further heavy rain forecast this afternoon and over the weekend, motorists across the region are being urged to take care and exercise caution.

Localised flooding has occurred and currently 11 flood alerts are in place by the Environment Agency, which is affecting normal driving routes.

Following yesterday's downpour warnings are still in place across Worcestershire and some services have been cancelled.

A number of schools have also been effected by the floods and are closing early today.

Station Commander Alan Haley from Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said:  “The forecast is for more rain and we would urge motorists to be extra vigilant while the current conditions continue."

He encouraged people to take note of local weather reports and flood warnings, and to heed any advice affecting the routes they use.

He also urged motorists not to drive through fords if the water level seems higher than usual.
