TOWNSFOLK are being encouraged to have their say on plans for a new Bromsgrove Railway Station at exhibitions beginning next week.

Worcestershire County Council launches a 10-week consultation period to gather the views of rail commuters and other interested parties today, (January 7).

The proposal is to build a new multi-million pound station 200 yards south of the existing one, on the site of the old Goods Yard.

A new four platform station, connected by a covered footbridge and lifts, could include a ticket desk, shop, and a 350-space car park.

People will be able to give their opinions on the plans at exhibitions being held throughout January.

The exhibitions begin on Tuesday, January 15, when an exhibition bus will be at Bromsgrove Railway Station from 7-9.45am, then between 4-6pm.

Also on January 15, the exhibition will be available to view in High Street between 10.30am-3.30pm.

The following day, January 16, the exhibition will again be at the station and in High Street at the same times, but will also be at the Council House, Burcot Lane, between 4-6pm.

Representatives from Worcestershire County Council and Centro will attend exhibitions. Network Rail representatives and architects may also be appearing at certain times.

Leaflets giving information on the proposals are being handed at the exhibitions as well as delivered to properties near to the Aston Fields-based station and given out to rail users of the current station.

Leaflets are also being made available at the district council’s Hub, in School Drive, and at Bromsgrove Library, in Stratford Road.

People can also give their views by filling in a freepost questionnaire or by completing the online survey available at worcestershire.gov.uk/bromsgrovestation.
