BROMSGROVE police are investigating a burglary in which an engagement ring, worth £8,000, was stolen.

The burglary took place between 8.30am-12.15pm yesterday, January 8, at a property in St Godwald's Road, Aston Fields.

Thieves broke in and made an untidy search of the house, before taking the ring as well as a gold wedding ring.

A Sony PlayStation with games worth £250, a laptop worth £400, an Acer Netbook worth £250, a Nintendo Xbox 360 and games worth £250 and a Panasonic digital camera worth £200, were also stolen in the incident.

Investigating officer PC Paul Lettis said: "We are hoping, as this was a morning burglary, someone may have seen the burglars in the area.

"We are eager to hear from anyone who remembers seeing suspicious activity around St Godwald's Road, especially any cars parked in unusual circumstances.”

PC Letts added anyone offered items for sale similar to those stolen, and is unsure of their origins, should call the police.

Police say burglars are often opportunistic and try to take advantage of insecure homes so they advise householders to make sure doors and windows are always locked when they leave a property, and to always lock up at night.

Anyone with information about the Aston Fields burglary is asked to call PC Lettis on non-emergency number 101, quoting incident 259-S-080113, or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
