TWO firefighters from Bromsgrove have been recognised at an awards ceremony.

Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) recognised the achievements of nearly 40 staff members at a Celebration of Success event, held at the Guildhall in Worcester on Thursday, (January 24).

Among those recognised was Bromsgrove-based Samarjit Butalia who was presented with a certificate for successfully completing his Trainee Firefighter Programme.

The programme equips new recruits with a range of firefighting skills, including practical activities such as equipment handling, pumping and ladder techniques, as well as first aid and health and safety.

Town firefighter Neal Jones was also presented a certificate for successfully completing his development programme, which included training for managing individuals and groups, both at the station and at incidents.

Chief fire officer, Mark Yates, said: “This event gives us chance to formally congratulate members of staff on a range of personal and professional achievements.

“Everyone who was presented with a certificate has dedicated a great deal of time and effort to their learning and self-development, often alongside their main role with the service.

“They deserve to be recognised for their commitment and hard work.”
