AN inspirational charity fund-raiser will be heading to Bromsgrove this weekend, as part of an 18-month mammoth sponsored walk across the UK.

Andy Peddle, from High Wycombe, began his epic tour on the Shetland Islands last May, with the aim of walking to all of the Salvation Army's churches, lifehouses and charity shops.

The 70-year-old is walking the 7,900 mile journey in top hat and tails, and is ensuring his journey walks past every ground in the football league, as at each location he sings the anthem You’ll Never Walk Alone.

The money raised is being donated to the Salvation Army’s homeless and anti-human trafficking programmes.

Andy, who hopes to raise £100,000, is expected to reach Bromsgrove’s headquarters, in Carlyle Road, Aston Fields, at 2.30pm this Saturday, (February 2).

He will then walk to the town’s High Street charity shop, around an hour later.

Bromsgrove residents are invited to come along and cheer the fund-raiser, and donate money as Salvation Army volunteers will be collecting cash.

Major Anne Read, from the Salvation Army, said: “Andy is such an inspirational man.

“The money he raises from his walk will enable us to support even more victims (of trafficking) in England and Wales.”

Andy aims to finish his gruelling trek in London in November. When he completes the route he will have called at 645 Salvation Army churches and 191 other Salvation Army facilities.

He also has a fund-raising website, which accepts donations; justgiving.com/Andy-Peddle.
