A BROMSGROVE school welcomed a party of French visitors as part of a partnership programme.

At the end of January, 10 children from L'ecole Croix Bonhomme, in Reims, visited their foreign counterparts at Finstall First School.

Youngsters at the Carnforth Road-based school enjoyed meeting the French pupils, and took part in a number of activities working with them.

The pupils held conversations in French and English and sang songs in their own language, made friendship bracelets, bookmarks and owl calendars, then took part in a special treasure hunt.

The French school is one of the Bromsgrove’s partnerships schools in the country, and the visit helped strengthen the links made over several years through the use of web cameras, and by sending greeting cards.

Gifts were also exchanged, before the visitors returned home.

Bernadette Eccles, the school’s head of modern languages, said that all the children participated enthusiastically in all the events, benefiting greatly from the experience which helped to develop their confidence and their French language skills.
