Man admits possessing shotgun

A 34-YEAR-OLD man has pleaded guilty to possessing a shotgun with a shortened barrel.

Andrew Baird lives at Reaside Clinic in Bristol Road South, Rubery, under Section 3 of the Mental Health Act, Worcester Crown Court heard.

Abigail Nixon, defending, said a psychiatrist had decided Baird was fit to plead to the charge of possessing the shortened barrel firearm on May 14 last year.

She said a second psychiatric report was being prepared.

Mr Baird is due to return to court on March 27.

The charge carries a mandatory prison term, or hospital order.
