Redditch Council members asked to reconsider housing consultation
2:30pm Monday 25th February 2013 in News
THE leader of Redditch Council has agreed to ask members to reconsider consultation on a document which will determine where future homes will be built.
Councillor Bill Hartnett will ask for approval to be given for the Redditch Housing Growth document to go out for consultation at the next meeting of full council on March 25.
Last Monday night the recommendation to send the document out to consultation with residents was not approved following a vote.
The consultation is being carried out jointly with Bromsgrove District Council, as potential housing sites are located there and this consultation is part of the wider process for the adoption of a Development Plan for each Authority.
Bromsgrove members approved the document at a meeting on Wednesday night with no votes against.
They also agreed that Redditch Council should be asked to re-consider its position regarding the public consultation on cross border growth as a matter of urgency, under Councils’ duty to co-operate under the Localism Act.
They agreed to defer the date of consultation to April 1 to give Redditch Council time to consider and respond to this proposal.
Coun Hartnett said: “Cross boundary consultation is important so we can take on board comments from all our residents and I am pleased to give this important document further consideration at our executive meeting and then at full council.”
