Appeal after thieves break-in to town charity shop

THE manager of a Bromsgrove charity shop is asking for the help of the public after a break-in.

The incident happened at Oxfam Books and Music in High Street overnight between 5.15pm on Thursday, February 14, and 9.10am the next morning.

The offenders forced their way through a rear door, then carried out an untidy search.

They then broke into an upstairs room and attempted to take the safe.

After failing, they left the premises taking a red trolley and a kettle.

More than £300 damaged was caused in the incident and Anne Orchard, manager of the shop, said it had cost them hundreds of pounds in replacing locks and ensuring the shop was secure.

She said: “They saw we were a charity shop as there is an Oxfam sign at the rear.

“It still never stopped them - hundreds of pounds damage caused just to steal a kettle and a trolley.

“It is ridiculous.

“Hopefully someone might know who did this, and they will have a conscience.”

Bromsgrove police are investigating the incident and are appealing for the public’s help.
