A BROMSGROVE school has celebrated the opening of its new resource centre.

St John’s Middle School's staff and pupils welcomed Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid, who officially opened the new centre, named The Pad.

The centre consists of three rooms and a recreation area, and has been designed to help meet the special educational needs of the school’s pupils.

The room has been made bright and colourful, with soft furnishings, and is equipped with the latest technology.

It was a double celebration for the Watt Close-based school as it recently became an academy.

Wendy Taylor, St John’s headteacher, said she was delighted with the new centre and said it had already become one of the most vibrant and motivational child-friendly resources in the school.

Mr Javid said he enjoyed opening the new centre, and congratulated the school on becoming an academy.
