FIREFIGHTERS were called to a collision involving two lorries on the M42 on Monday night, (March 18).
Two crews from Bromsgrove and another from Droitwich attended the incident which happened at 8.10pm between Junction 1, (Lickey End), and 2, (Alvechurch).
Two casualties were treated after the collision, then taken to hospital.
Following the collision one lorry, loaded with drums of vegetable oil, spilled its cargo onto the carriageway. Firefighters stemmed the flow of oil, then emptied the drums safely.
Firefighters also used stabilising equipment to secure the smaller of the two lorries, which ended up coming to rest at an angle on the motorway embankment.
Emergency crews left the scene at 9.30pm. The Highways Agency then took control of the carriageway clean-up operation.
