AN organisation bringing former pupils of a Bromsgrove school together has held its first ladies’ lunch.

Bromsgrove School Foundation organised the special inaugural lunch at Bromsgrove School, in Worcester Road, at the end of April.

Around 50 guests attended the event at the school’s historical Old Chapel, including current and former parents, and friends of the school.

Special guest speaker was Jane Lodge, a former Midlands Businesswoman of the Year and holder of a lifetime achievement award from the Birmingham and West Midlands Society of Chartered Accountants.

The former parent and foundation trustee spoke about her rise through the ranks as a woman in the 1980s and the gender inequality she, and many other females, faced at that time.

Rachel Scannell, assistant head and vice chairman of Bromsgrove School Foundation, said: “We are extremely grateful to Jane for taking time out to be our inaugural guest speaker.

“We now hope to hold the ladies’ lunch twice a year and encourage greater networking amongst old Bromsgrovians, parents and friends of Bromsgrove School.”
