DETAILS of this year’s Bromsgrove Beer Festival have been announced, which will be supporting a cancer charity.

Beer lovers are being encouraged to attend the popular three-day festival organised by the Redditch and Bromsgrove branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA).

Being held at Bromsgrove Rugby Club, in Finstall Park, festival-goers will be able to enjoy 110 real ales, served in pint, half pint and third measures, plus there is 50 different ciders and perries available to sample.

There is a range of food available at the festival, a CAMRA stand selling merchandise, a separate rugby club bar selling other drinks, and the hosting of the West Midlands region strong bitter of the year competition.

The event begins on Thursday, July 4, between 6-11pm - but the first day is open to card-carrying CAMRA members only.

The festival, in its 11th year, opens to the public on Friday, July 5 and, for the first time, will open on the afternoon, between 3-11pm.

On Saturday, July 6, the festival will be open between 11am-9pm.

On the Saturday, special tasting sessions showcasing the six different beer styles that a variety of ales are produced from will be held at 1.30pm and at 3pm.

Tickets for the sessions will be priced at £2.

Revellers will also be entertained that afternoon by Blackwell Concert Band.

Money raised will be donated to this year’s festival charity, Macmillan Cancer Support.

The charity’s fund-raising group secretary for Bromsgrove, Vicky Stock, said: "We are delighted to be the nominated charity.

“We are passionate about raising awareness as well as extra funds to help Macmillan help even more people.

“Please do come and visit the festival, and our stall to see how you can help."

Entrance is just £3, £1 for CAMRA members, which includes a programme plus a £2 refundable deposit for a commemorative glass.
