A BARNT Green Sailing Club has been boosted after receiving Olympic legacy funding from the National Lottery.
Barnt Green Waters Limited, which provides facilities to Barnt Green Sailing and Fishing Clubs, has secured £50,000 lottery funding from Sport England's Inspired Facilities Fund.
The money is to be used to upgrade and improve the changing room facilities, benefiting both current and future clubs members.
The improvements include increasing the changing areas, introducing non-slip flooring, replacement existing and increasing the number of showers, and a redecoration throughout.
Barnt Green Waters chairman, Stuart Howe, said: "We are delighted to have secured this investment, which means we can upgrade the quality of our premises.
"It is the cornerstone of our strategy to have an outstanding facility for the Olympics’ legacy and believe this will courage more people to participate in our sports."
Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid said: "As an important local resource, I am very pleased that Barnt Green Waters have been successful in securing funding.
"Through their various training and educational programmes the club encourage participation in young people and are an asset to the whole community."
Bids will be accepted for the next round of Inspired Facilities funding from October 21. For more details visit sportengland.org/inspiredfacilities.
