MEMBERS of a Bromsgrove fitness centre have been taking part in a world record attempt to raise money for a young Bromsgrove athlete.
The Athletic Performance Training facility, in Fairfield, attempted to set a record for the number of kettlebell swings.
A kettlebell is like a cannonball with a triangular handle on top, giving users a full body workout.
In groups, 30 members managed to swing 1,028,434lbs in just three hours 40 minutes, to set the record.
The challenge was organised to raise money for Lauren Rowles, who has ambitions to compete in the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio, Brazil.
The Bromsgrove teenager visited the fund-raising event and took part, swinging 23,848lbs from her wheelchair.
A total of £500 was raised by the centre, which is now planning other fund-raisers to support the North Bromsgrove High School pupil.
