Bromsgrove councillors consider parking charge issue
7:50am Wednesday 18th September 2013 in News
BROMSGROVE councillors are set to consider parking charges in the town within months when the findings of a detailed report into the issue are released.
At the district council’s overview and scrutiny board’s latest meeting, held on Monday, (September 16), members were asked to consider the topic after it was proposed by Charlie Bateman, on behalf of the Bromsgrove Forum for Older People.
The forum asked for evidence to be considered from Altrincham, where Trafford Council had slashed parking charges to 10p for one hour, 30p for two and 70p for three.
At the meeting the relevant portfolio holder, Councillor Michael Webb, told members a full review into the issue was being carried out by the authority and its findings would be with him in the first week of November.
He said these would be considered by cabinet, and by the overview and scrutiny board, and he would welcome its input.
Members voted that further information be requested from the source - the car parking report - before deciding whether or not further investigation is required.
