Bromsgrove MP 'delighted' after promotion in Government reshuffle
1:50pm Tuesday 8th October 2013 in News
BROMSGROVE’S MP says he is delighted after receiving a promotion in the Government’s latest ministerial reshuffle.
Sajid Javid moved up from Economic Secretary to the third most senior position; Financial Secretary to the Treasury, in the coalition reshuffle announced yesterday, (October 7).
The MP previously worked for Chase Manhattan Bank and Deutsche Bank, before being elected to the town seat in 2010.
Mr Javid has enjoyed a rapid rise through the Government’s ranks in the years since.
After serving as a Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne, a year ago he was promoted to the Economic Secretary position.
Political commentators have been reporting that the 43-year-old is seen as a rising star within the Conservative Party and his promotion now puts him in pole position for a cabinet job, at the next reshuffle.
Mr Javid said: “I am delighted to accept the responsibilities of becoming Financial Secretary to the Treasury, and I look forward to carrying out my new duties.
“As always, my constituents continue to come first - I am only able to work as a minister due to their support."
