A BROMSGROVE man has successfully completed a gruelling charity bike ride.
Steve Pell was inspired to take part in the fund-raising ride from Clapham to Brighton Pier with more than 2,500 cyclists, after the death of a friend’s father from motor neurone disease.
The 40-year-old said: “I wanted to do something, both to help raise funds for the MND Association to aid research and treatment, but also to make more people aware of the symptoms.”
The cyclist described the 55 mile ride, which he completed in a time of five hours 15 minutes, as incredibly emotional.
“Having so many other people spurring you on, many in commemorative clothing to remind them who they were doing it for, really made it a powerful experience," he said.
“I hope to undertake more fund-raising in the future to try and find a cure, or alleviate the suffering of those diagnosed with MND.”
Mr Pell managed to raise £475 for the charity after generous donations from friends, family and work colleagues.
