1:30pm Thursday 17th October 2013 in News
BROMSGROVE Choral Society has held a celebratory event to mark 65 years of singing in the town.
The society’s roots can be traced back to the Bromsgrove Musical Club in 1939.
In 1978 the society ceased to be an evening class and became an individual charitable society, going on to flourish under the baton of Lyn Davies.
A singing workshop with Luise Horrocks was held to celebrate the birthday, which included cake and a drink.
The celebrations with be continuing with two concerts.
The first will be conducted by John Brierley on Saturday, December 7, at 7.30pm, being held at All Saints Church, Burcot Lane.
It will feature Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on Christmas Carols, organ solos by Joseph Waggott, as well as well-known carols for audience participation accompanied by the Chaddesley Strings.
A second concert, also at the church, will be held on Saturday, April 12.
It will feature Schubert's Mass in G and Ave Maria, as well as Haydn's Spring.
Past members of the society are being invited along to the celebratory concerts.
