Secretary of State for Justice faces some tough questions
2:30pm Saturday 26th October 2013 in News
THE Secretary of State for Justice Chris Grayling recently visited Redditch and faced some tough questions.
The minister visited NEW College and talked to law and politics students about a range of topical issues, including tackling crime, followed by a question and answer session.
He talked about how the government has made tackling crime a key priority and how recorded crime is down 11 per cent from last year in the West Mercia area.
He was joined by Redditch MP Karen Lumley who said the visit, and the question and answer session, was great for the students.
Mrs Lumley said: “Crime has fallen under Chris’ watch despite the difficult economic circumstances and in the Midlands we have seen a sharp fall in crime over the past 12 months.
“I’m delighted the Secretary of State took the time to meet students from NEW College, this was an excellent opportunity for them to quiz a senior member of the cabinet.”
