Chance to meet the animals at Blackwell sanctuary

HILLFIELDS Animal Sanctuary in Blackwell is holding an open day this weekend where visitors will get the chance to meet the animals and find out all about the work the sanctuary does.

The sanctuary first opened its doors to rescue animals more than 30 years ago when founder Linda Tudor started housing everything from dogs and cats, to horses, goats, sheep, pigs, ducks and chickens, which had been subjected to cruelty or neglect. She also takes in animals whose owners are no longer able to look after them.

The open day is running on Saturday, December 7 from noon to 4pm, and visitors will have an opportunity to meet Ms Tudor and find out all about the work she does as well as enjoying a mince pie and some mulled wine.

As well as the chance to meet the animals, there will also be face painting, cake stalls and bric-a-brac stalls.

Entry to the open day is £2 for adults and £1 for children, with all monies raised going to Hillfields Animal Sanctuary.

For more information on the open day call 0121 4453828.
