BROMSGROVE District Councillors are looking into ways in which an authority supported venue can be made more accessible.

The Artrix Outreach Provision Task Group has been set up by the district council’s overview and scrutiny board to look into how the venue can be made accessible to sections of the population that might not otherwise access it.

The group will look to recommend any potential improvements to the council's cabinet.

The Artrix is a theatre, cinema, live music and comedy venue based in School Drive.

Group leader, Charford councillor Sean Shannon, said: “The council supports Artrix and its outreach work is important work, designed to boost social inclusion and reduce anti social behaviour.

"The goal is to ensure that support is getting to where it is needed, that outcomes are as good as they can be, and that the council and residents are getting value for money.”

The task group is set to interview the venue's staff and council officers, as well as council representatives of the Artrix Operating Trust.

The group is expected to produce a draft report, reporting to the April 2014 meeting of the board. After that a final report, with possible recommendations, would then be submitted to the council's cabinet.

Anyone who would like to express a view or participate in the work of the task group is encouraged to contact a member of the council’s committee services team on 01857 881443 or email scrutiny@bromsgrove.gov.uk.
