A BUS-themed tribute will be paid today to a young Worcester man who tragically died last month.

The funeral of Anthony Taylor will be held at St Joseph’s Church in Warndon this lunchtime, just over two weeks after his body was found in a car which had entered the river Avon at Evesham.

The 22-year-old was a huge fan of buses and regularly used to ride the city’s bus network.

As a mark of respect, First Group plans to run two ‘tribute’ buses along the number 35 route in Worcester - one he often used - throughout today, with both vehicles bearing black ribbons in his memory.

Mr Taylor previously attended Worcester’s former Elgar Technology College and lived in Cleeve Drive, Warndon, but moved to Charford in Bromsgrove shortly before his death.

Speaking to your Worcester News shortly after Anthony’s death, his friend Dani Le, aged 29, a former Worcester bus driver, called him an “absolutely amazing young man”.

“Loved by everyone that met you, you will leave a huge mark on the lives of many,” he said.

“You were a true friend and somebody I will miss very dearly.”

First Group spokesperson Ady Culpin confirmed two buses running the number 35 route through Warndon today will feature black ribbons in Anthony’s memory.

The funeral service begins at 1pm.
