THE Safer Bromsgrove Group, part of North Worcestershire Community Safety Partnership, is set to sponsor one of the Spirit of Bromsgrove Awards.

The Spirit of Bromsgrove Awards, which were created to celebrate local sport, arts and community achievements, will be holding a special ceremony to announce the winners at the Artrix in February.

The new Safer Bromsgrove Award has been created to celebrate an individual or group that residents feel has contributed to improving community safety in their neighbourhood with anything from working to reduce anti-social behaviour and crime, to supporting people who have been affected by crime.

Bev Houghton, chair of the Safer Bromsgrove Group, said: “Bromsgrove is a safe place to live, work and visit and this is in no small part due to the contribution of local community members and groups working with a variety of community safety partners to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour. The Safer Bromsgrove Award is designed to celebrate the fantastic examples of crime prevention in the community and recognise the individuals and groups that help keep Bromsgrove safe.”

Overall the awards strive to highlight local people, clubs and organisations that have had a positive impact on life in Bromsgrove over the last 12 months, and showcase some of town’s talent.

Bromsgrove district residents can nominate people or organisations for any of the awards via an online submission form at bromsgrove.gov.uk/spiritofbromsgroveawards where they can also request a paper version.

People can make as many nominations as they like, but all nominations need to be received by midnight on Sunday, January 12. The Spirit of Bromsgrove Award Ceremony will be taking place on Tuesday, February 25.
