A MAN was arrested after police removed cannabis plants from a property in Catshill.

Officers from the Operations Patrol Unit (OPU) in Worcestershire were called to the village on Monday evening, January 13.

They searched the property at Sedgefield Walk at around 8pm after Community Support Officers patrolling there reported a strong smell of cannabis coming from it.

Around 50 mature cannabis plants were found in the garage and were seized along with a quantity of cannabis flowers and buds in barrels.

Growing equipment including heating and lighting was found, and that was dismantled and removed today. A scene guard was at the property overnight.

The discovery led to the arrest of a 43-year-old man on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and he was taken into custody at Kidderminster Police Station, where he remains helping officers with their inquiries.

OPU Worcestershire later tweeted a picture of the factory.

Anyone with information about illegal drug use or supply should contact officers on non-emergency number 101, or details can be given anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
