BROMSGROVE residents joined with council dignitaries, religious leaders and town school children at an event marking Holocaust Memorial Day, (HMD).

The town’s event, annually organised by the district council, was held at the memorial plaque at Sanders Park on Monday, (January 27).

The theme of the 2014 HMD is journeys, looking at how these were often experiences of persecution and terror for people who suffered in the Holocaust under Nazi persecution and in the subsequent genocides.

The service included a statement of commitment, pledging to remember and learn about the Holocaust and other genocides.

Buglers played the last past, then those in attendance held a two-minute silence.
